The space by the outdoor summer seating area found a suitable use for the creation of a roof garden on the newly built garage. The top waterproofing was followed by the composition of the intensive roof by laying anti-root penetration fabrics, DEK 30 nop film as a suitable water absorber, filter geotextile and a suitable roof substrate. Finally, a carpeted lawn was laid and edged with invisible edging for ease and aesthetics, with the gap from the attic filled with fine aggregate. One corner was also given a landscaping treatment with planting.
An AVANT telescopic articulated loader was used to move the considerable amount of material to the roof.
Why a roof garden?
As a distinctive representative, but also and above all utilitarian building element. They are becoming increasingly popular on our buildings, primarily for aesthetic reasons – a pleasant view of the roof, replacing the built-up area and for practical reasons. It also acts as additional thermal and acoustic insulation and protects the roof covering from damaging external influences.
